Sussex EMDR Regional group: launching event
EMDR and Dissociation: A workshop with Dr Mel Temple
For its launching event, the EMDR Association Sussex regional group is delighted to welcome Dr Mel Temple.
Dr Temple is an EMDR consultant and a consultant psychiatrist and psychotherapist, specialising in working with dissociative patients. She has experience of residential services for complex trauma and DID residential service (The Kemp Unit, The Retreat, York), as well as secondary and tertiary NHS services, and services within military mental health.
The workshop will explore best EMDR practice in working with dissociation, from simple dissociation to more complex and extreme presentations:
To improve understanding & identification of complex cases with dissociation in clinical practice
To support the development of skills in using the phased approach to treating complex trauma & dissociation
To understand common comorbidities in this patient group, their roles and impact.
To develop understanding and specific clinical skills in the application of EMDR in this clinical population
We hope that this event will provide a context for setting up an active EMDR Sussex Regional Group to support all EMDR therapists in the area. During the day, we will get the opportunity to discuss the setting up of the regional group including volunteers for the various positions within the committee as well as exploring frequency, format and topics for future training events.
Attendance certificates will be provided but CPD points will be awarded only for EMDR Association members.
A sandwich lunch is included with vegetarian and vegan options (unfortunately, we are not able to cater for any other dietary requirements).
There is free parking onsite.
All proceeds from the day will go to Trauma Aid UK, a humanitarian EMDR charity.
